ABOUT ME
He has performed both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles in numerous Italian and European cities, including Alghero, Sassari, Cagliari, Chianciano, Funchal (Portugal), Nuoro, Cremona, Ceglie Messapica, Bucharest, Dresden (Germany), Rovigo, Asolo, Sardoal (Portugal), Coimbra (Portugal), Dülken (Germany), Madrid (Spain), Vienna (Austria), Castelsardo, Castanheira de Pêra (Portugal), Vila Nova de Gaia (Portugal), and Lisbon (Portugal), as well as in New York (USA) and Beijing (China).
In 2019, he performed Franz Liszt’s Totentanz as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of the Sassari Conservatory at the Teatro Comunale of Sassari and the Teatro Eliseo of Nuoro. In 2024, he opened the concert season of the Sardoal International Piano Meeting in Portugal, performing J. S. Bach’s BWV 1060 with the professional orchestra Filarmonia das Beiras. In 2025, he performed A. Salieri’s Piano Concerto with the Filarmonia das Beiras Orchestra at Sala São Tomás in Coimbra. In 2026, he performed E. Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor at the Aula Magna of the University of Aveiro.
He has distinguished himself in numerous national and international competitions, receiving 2nd Prize at the “Monte Acuto” Regional Competition, 3rd Prize at the “Prime Note” Competition, 3rd Prize at the “Vittorio Nannarelli” International Competition, and 1st Prize at the 10th edition of the “Villa Las Tronas” Competition. In 2024, he received the Best Resident Artist Award and 3rd Overall Prize at the Sardoal International Piano Competition, 3rd Prize at the Coimbra World Piano Competition, and 1st Prize at the “Prof. Dichler” Competition of the Wiener MusikSeminar at the University of Vienna.
Adriano Murgia graduated with highest honors, distinction and an honor mention in Piano Performance from the “L. Canepa” Conservatory of Music in Sassari, under the guidance of Maestro Andrea Ivaldi. In 2023, he completed a Second-Level Master’s Degree in Piano Performance at the F. Venezze Conservatory of Rovigo, under the guidance of Maestro Roberto Prosseda. He is currently studying at the Academia Internacional de Música “Aquiles Delle Vigne” in Coimbra, under the guidance of Maestro Manuel Araújo, and is pursuing a PhD at the F. Venezze Conservatory of Rovigo, with a research project devoted to the piano music of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. During the 2020/2021 academic year, he was admitted to the Hochschule für Musik “Carl Maria von Weber” in Dresden, Germany. In the academic year 2026/2027 he will be working at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp as visiting researcher.
He has participated in piano masterclasses with internationally renowned artists including G. Basso, A. Ciccolini, M. Baglini, E. Stellini, A. Ivaldi, M. Baek, M. Araújo, R. Andres, S. Coombs, P. Iannone, A. Pizarro, B. Petrushansky, J. Rink, W. G. Naboré, B. Berman and R. Prosseda.
He has performed for the Associazione Beethoven A.C.A.M. and recorded an episode dedicated to Italian piano music for Dentro le Note, a series by Roberto Prosseda broadcast on Rai 5. His first monographic CD dedicated to the piano music of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco was also presented on Rai Radio 3, Radio Bremen, RBB and MDR Leipzig. He also participated in the Lux Fidelis project, dedicated to promoting Portuguese music internationally.
His research activities include a strong commitment to music outreach and to the international promotion of Italian music. In this context, he has given lecture-recitals at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice, the Italian Cultural Institute in Bucharest, and the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.
In 2025, he released his first CD on the Piano Classics label, dedicated to the piano music of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. The album was presented at Barge Music in New York.
CURRICULUM
Adriano is working as a PhD researcher at the F. Venezze Conservatory in Rovigo, carrying out a project on the music of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco.

Adriano has been accepted as a Visiting Researcher at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, where he is continuing and further developing his research project on Italian piano music.

Adriano takes part in various music outreach projects, including Roberto Prosseda's Piano Italiano project, which promotes Italian music worldwide, and the Lux Fidelis project, which aims to rediscover Portuguese music with the support of DGArtes.
