ABOUT ME

During the 2020/2021 academic year, he was admitted to the Hochschule für Musik "Carl Maria von Weber" in Dresden, Germany. He has performed both as a soloist and with chamber ensembles in several Italian and European cities, including Alghero, Sassari, Cagliari, Chianciano, Funchal (PT), Nuoro, Dresden (DE), Rovigo, Asolo, Sardoal (PT), Coimbra (PT), Dülken (DE), Madrid (ES), Vienna (AT), Ceglie Messapica, Castelsardo, Castanheira de Pêra (PT), Vila Nova de Gaia (PT), Lisbon (PT), New York (USA) and Beijing.

In 2019, he performed Liszt’s Totentanz as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of the Sassari Conservatory, first at the Teatro Comunale in Sassari and later at the Teatro Eliseo in Nuoro.

In 2024, he opened the concert season of the Sardoal International Piano Meeting in Portugal, performing J.S. Bach’s BWV 1060 with the professional orchestra Filarmónica das Beiras.

In 2025, he performed A. Salieri’s Piano Concerto with the Filarmónica das Beiras at the Sala S. Tomás in Coimbra.

He has distinguished himself in several national and international competitions, earning a 2nd prize at the “Monte Acuto” regional competition, 3rd prize at the “Prime Note” competition, 3rd prize at the Vittorio Nannarelli International Competition, and 1st prize at the 10th edition of the Villa Las Tronas Competition. In 2024, he was awarded the prize for Best Resident Artist and 3rd Absolute Prize at the “Sardoal International Piano Competition”, 3rd prize at the “Coimbra World Piano Competition”, and 1st prize at the “Prof. Dichler” Competition at the Wiener Musikseminar of the University of Vienna.

Adriano Murgia was born in Alghero in 1996. He began his piano studies under the guidance of Maria Giovanna Piras. In 2022, he graduated with top marks, honors, and distinction in Piano Performance at the Conservatorio di Musica "L. Canepa" in Sassari, studying with Maestro A. Ivaldi.
He is currently attending the Academia Internacional de Música “Aquiles Delle Vigne” in Coimbra, Portugal.

In 2023, he completed a second-level Master’s degree at the Conservatorio di Rovigo under the guidance of Maestro Roberto Prosseda.

He has also participated in masterclasses with internationally renowned artists such as G. Basso, A. Ciccolini, M. Baglini, E. Stellini, A. Ivaldi, M. Baek, M. Araujo, R. Andres, S. Coombs, P. Iannone, A. Pizarro, B. Petrushansky, J. Rink, W.G. Naboré, B. Berman, and R. Prosseda.

He recorded an episode on Italian piano music for Dentro le Note, a series by Roberto Prosseda broadcast on the Italian national television channel Rai 5. He is also involved in the Lux Fidelis project, which promotes Portuguese music worldwide.

After completing his Master’s degree in Piano Interpretation at the Conservatorio Venezze in Rovigo with Roberto Prosseda, Adriano is now beginning his PhD program at the same institution, focusing on the piano music of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco.

His research activities include music outreach, aimed at promoting Italian music internationally. In this context, he has given lecture-recitals both in Italy and abroad, including at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna, the Academia Internacional de Música Aquiles Delle Vigne in Coimbra (PT), and the Beijing Conservatory.

His debut CD, dedicated to Castelnuovo-Tedesco, released by Piano-Classics in 2025 and has already been previewed at Barge Music in New York on November 3, 2024.

CURRICULUM

Adriano is working as a PhD researcher at the F. Venezze Conservatory in Rovigo, carrying out a project on the music of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco.

Adriano has been teaching at the Imbas International Music School in Cascais since 2022, guiding his students' education and preparing them for the ABRSM (The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) exams.

Adriano takes part in various music outreach projects, including Roberto Prosseda's Piano Italiano project, which promotes Italian music worldwide, and the Lux Fidelis project, which aims to rediscover Portuguese music with the support of DGArtes.
